Sarangani-Wide IEC campaign on Enhanced K+12 Curriculum to begin next year

IN ORDER to shine the light on DepEd’s Enhanced K+12 Curriculum, a team of communication officers of the Division of Sarangani will conduct a series of information dissemination and discussion forums on January 2011.

Being a revolutionary move in the education sector, the enhanced K+12 Curriculum has been subject to criticism. The communications officers do not hope to eliminate the criticisms but to help shape an educated public opinion on the subject.

In the planning conference held on December 10, it was agreed that an IEC campaign will be held for each of the seven municipality that will include the following topics:

  • Education, A Shared Responsibility
  • Background Information on the K+12 Curriculum
  • Salient Features of the K+12 Curriculum
  • Implications of the K+12 Curriculum

Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) presidents, School Governing Council (SGC) chairmen, school heads, guidance counselors, and communications officers of every school is expected to attend the said forums, who will be given the chance to ask questions and discuss the matter.

I was assigned to help facilitate the campaign in the municipalities of Alabel, Malapatan, and Glan and that means I have to do a lot of research on the Enhanced K+12 Curriculum.
